RULES AND PROCEDURES

HOW TO ENTER:  Starting March 14, 2008 and ending on May 25, 2008, The PlayStation® AM JAM Tour will be conducted in twelve (12) different locations for Skateboarding and eleven (11) different locations for BMX, on the premises of local skateparks in selected cities.  Go to any of these locations to register.  The following is a list of the specific dates and locations: (Exact addresses are posted on the websites)

PLAYSTATION® AM JAM FORMAT:
Events will take place in the areas of Skateboarding, Skateboard Vert and BMX. For Skateboarding, there will be two (2) age groups: 7 - 13 years old and 14 - 18 years old. Each participant’s age is determined by their age on August 16, 2008. That is, if you are 13 years old or younger on August 16, 2008, you will be in the 13 and under age group.  If you are 14 years old or older on or before August 16, 2008, you will be in the 14 and older age group.  There is only one age group for Skateboard Vert and BMX (7-18 years old). All participants should be prepared to provide some form of age verification (e.g. driver’s license or birth certificate).

Skateboard Vert events will be held at no less than five (5) locations including Philadelphia, Orlando, California, Atlanta and Denver.  As many as nine (9) locations may be available to conduct the Skateboard Vert events.  Additional sites may be added at Woodward’s and/or Sponsor’s discretion.   The schedule of events is subject to each location’s discretion.
  
All entrants will be evaluated by a panel of Woodward staff members/tour staff/independent contractors/employees (“Selectors”).  The winners will be determined based on a variety of criteria, including, but not limited to, the following:  originality, technical skill, style, difficulty, creativity, enthusiasm, potential, work ethic and attitude. Since the event is not a contest, the criteria set forth to select the individuals who will receive the respective awards will be at the sole discretion of the “ Selectors”, under the direction of Woodward Camp, its staff and management  Selectors’ decisions are final which are based upon the criteria listed above.  .

The actual schedule may vary from location to location, but will be similar to the information listed below:

Jam sessions will be specific to skateboarding and BMX

When Skateboarding Vert is conducted, the schedule will be determined by the Woodward staff and the “Selectors”.  The exact format of Skateboard Vert may vary from location to location depending upon the facilities available, the number of entrants and other factors.

There will be a thirty (30) minute warm up (approximately)

There will be a five (5) minute open jam session with approximately ten (10) riders per session

There will be one final 10-rider jam session where the winner will be selected

Specific numbers per session may be adjusted based upon the number of entries.

Decisions of the Selectors are final.

 

WINNERS & PRIZING at QUALIFYING EVENTS:
There will be two ( 2 ) winners selected at each site in skateboarding – one  (1) from each of the two (2) age groups (7-13 and  14 to 18).  There will also be one (1) winner in BMX at those designated BMX event sites.  At those sites where Vert is conducted, one (1) winner will be selected for the Vert event. Winners from each event/location will each receive a PlayStation® Package which consists of the following:  

Roundtrip airfare for one (1) (from major airport nearest to winner’s home) to State College Pennsylvania, and transportation between the State College Airport and Camp Woodward during the week of  August 10 – 16, 2008; a PSP® (PlayStation® Portable) system and three (3) PSP games (selection at Sponsor’s discretion), other products (to be selected by sponsor and / or Woodward Camp), and; a one week’s stay at Camp Woodward (approximate retail value, $2,200) [Week of August 10, 2008 through August 16, 2008 only – travel may  not be substituted for different dates].

Actual value may vary based on airfare fluctuations and distance between departure and destination.  Transportation to and from the airport (State College, PA) will be provided by Woodward.  All other travel details will be at Sponsor’s discretion.  If a winner is unable to travel on, August 10, 2008 with a return on August 16, 2008, then the prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner will be selected among all eligible runner-up entrants.

WINNERS & PRIZING at PLAYSTATION® AM JAM FINALS:
The PlayStation® AM JAM Finals will be held at Camp Woodward, PA during the week of August 10 – 16, 2008.

One (1) Grand Prize winner from each of the three (3) disciplines (Skateboarding, Skateboarding Vert, and BMX): two (2) from Skateboarding (one each from the two age groups ) , one (1) from BMX  and one (1) from Skateboarding Vert, will be awarded at the final event at Woodward Camp, August 10 - 16, 2008.  Each Grand Prize winner in their respective discipline will receive $5,000.00 (Five Thousand Dollars), payable by check.  Winners will also receive a scholarship to Woodward’s PA and/or Woodward West facilities for the entire 2009 season, a PLAYSTATION®3 system, and a PlayStation® prize pack (approximate retail value, $5,600 - Five thousand six hundred dollars). Each winner is responsible for transportation to/from Camp in 2009.

All prizes are non-transferable and no substitutions are allowed. All taxes and any other expenses not specified herein are the sole responsibility of winner.  Sponsor reserves the right to substitute the prize for one of equal or greater value if the designated prize should become unavailable for any reason. Winners are solely responsible for all federal, state, and local taxes and other fees associated with prize receipt and use.

ELIGIBILITY:
Participation is open to legal U.S. Citizens between the ages of seven (7) and eighteen (18).  A participant entering as an 18 year old must not turn 19 years old  until August 16, 2008 or later. (No one can participate in the PlayStation® AM JAM Finals if they are 19 years old). Proof of age is required.  A valid Driver’s License, Birth Certificate or Passport must be provided.  Each and every participant must have a signed Waiver and Release.

Winners will be required to execute and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Release within ten (10) days of prize notification. If the winner is a minor, then prize will be awarded to winner’s parent or legal guardian. No tickets or other travel documentation will be issued in the name of any person who has not signed the  Release.  By accepting the prizes, winner grants to SCEA and Woodward Camp the right to film, videotape, photograph, record their voice and make any reproductions of their physical likeness, image, name and voice, and the irrevocable right in perpetuity to use, display, and digitally enhance or alter in any manner, such likeness in any media now known or hereafter devised, including, but not limited to, the exhibition and/or online use, broadcast, videogame, theatrically or on television, cable or radio, any motion picture film, videotape, DVD,CD or any internet service or program in which such likeness may be used or otherwise, or any published articles, catalogs, or websites in which such likeness may be printed, used or incorporated, and in the advertising, exploiting and publicizing of the Woodward Camp, Camp products, licensed products, and all affiliated relationships.

Additionally, prize winners agree to release Sponsor and Woodward Camp, its parents, subsidiaries, agencies, and affiliates from any and all liability, claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership or use of the prize or while preparing for, participating in, and/or traveling to any prize-related activity. 

Employees of Sponsor and Woodward Camp and its parents, subsidiaries, agencies, and affiliated companies and their immediate families are not eligible.

Neither the Sponsor and Woodward Camp nor its affiliates, subsidiaries, agencies, divisions or related companies are responsible for any damages, taxes, or expenses that winners might incur as a result of receipt of the prizes.
                                                                       
No one will be excluded from entering this event due to gender, race, ethnic background, religious belief or affiliation, political affiliation or any other means of categorizing or affiliating an individual with any group or organization.

No one will be discriminated against in any way, or be excluded from participating, as long as they are able to meet the minimum standards as set forth above.

The basic rules for all PlayStation® AM JAM events are as follows:

  • U. S. Citizen
  • Every participant must have the respective signed Waiver and Release
  • Every participant must have a helmet, knee and elbow pads
  • BMX riders may have a full frontal guard attached to their helmet.
  • The same basic rules that are posted at the park will be followed.
  • Should additional rules be required to participate, these will be safety related and they will be posted and distributed to all the participants.
  • No child will be asked to perform or attempt a skill or stunt by any of the supervisors, tour staff or directors of the PlayStation® AM JAM.
  • There will be nothing required of any individual that will compromise that individual’s safety, put that individual at risk or compromise, in any way, the safety of any of the participants or spectators at the PlayStation® AM JAM.
  • No participant will, in any way, be given an advantage or disadvantage for any previous accomplishment or achievement that they may have received or have previously been recognized for.
  • No participant will, in any way, be given an advantage or disadvantage for any current or past relationship(s) that they may have had with any sponsor or partner of the PlayStation® AM JAM Tour, nor any current or past relationship that they may have had with a competitor of any sponsor or partner of the PlayStation® AM JAM Tour, or any current or past relationship with Camp Woodward or any of its staff, management, employees or partners.
  • Employees of Woodward Camp, professional actions sports athletes, and previous Grand Prizewinners are not eligible for the 2008 PlayStation® AM JAM, including qualifiers and finals.
  • Participants who win a 2008 PlayStation AM JAM Qualifying Event (in one discipline), and are awarded a trip to Woodward from August 10th- August 16th, 2008,  may enter other 2008 PlayStation AM JAM Events (in the same or different discipline) in the same calendar year, but are ineligible to receive an additional prize of a trip to Camp Woodward during the PlayStation AM JAM Finals week (August 10-16, 2008) and any other qualifying event prizes (including a PSP® (PlayStation® Portable) system).
  • Anyone who falsifies their age and illegally, according to these written rules, enters this contest would be required to return and forfeit any awards, prizes, or valued services, at their sole cost and expense.  No exceptions will be made.

There is nothing else contained within this document that would in anyway change or compromise the fairness and the equal opportunity afforded every participant who attends this event. It will be stated that each and every individual who participates will be treated fairly, equally and without any form of bias discrimination or restriction.
