TOKYO--If the anecdotal evidence of long lines at the game's launch wasn't convincing enough, some hard numbers have emerged to suggest that Final Fantasy XII has been a major hit in Japan. While the top positions in Media Create's weekly sales chart have regularly been dominated by Nintendo DS games in recent months, Final Fantasy XII sold 1.764 million units in its first four days of release and ranked in first place for the week of March 13 to March 19. Nintendo's Animal Crossing: Wild World for the DS was a distant second with 70,000 units, followed by Brain Age for the DS at 67,000 units. In related news, Final Fantasy XII's theme song has also hit sales charts in Japan; Nobuo Uematsu and vocalist Angela Aki's "Kiss Me Goodbye" ranked sixth in this week's Oricon top 10 sales chart for single CDs.
