Q: What do I do with the candy, foundation or the clay doll?
A: Each of these items are needed to get the fabulous Sun Gem, an attachment that boosts all elemental and anti-monster attributes of the weapon it is attached to. The first step to getting the Sun Gem takes place in Matataki Village. When you finish building CousCous House, he awards you with some Candy. Give the Candy to Bunkbuka to get the Foundation make-up. The second step to getting the Sun Gem takes place in Muska Lacka. Give the Foundation Make-up to Jibubu to get the Clay Doll. If Jibubu isn’t inside his house, make sure you have the Foundation in your inventory. If he’s still not there, try revisiting later in the game. The final step to getting the Sun Gem takes place in the moon village called Yellow Drop. Give the Clay Doll to Marnia, the person who collect rare items. In exchange Marnia will give you the Sun Gem.
Q: I need help with fishing
A: You will get a fishing pole when you complete the rebuilding of Paige’s house in Norune Village. The four areas where you can go fishing are; the pond in Norune Village, the waterfall in Matataki Village, the docks in Queens and the Oasis in Muska Lacka. You must have bait to go fishing. Bait can be found in every dungeon in the game, and can be purchased in many of the shops as well. The fish you with fishing. catch will vary depending on what bait is used, which location you fish, and what time of day the fishing takes place. Different fish are worth different amounts of fish points. Fish points can be traded for various items, gems and weapons. Once you have caught some fish, inspect the sign by the fishing hole to see what prizes you can trade your fish points in for. Two of the rarest fish in the game are the Marayan Garayan and the Baron Garayan. The Marayan Garayan can only be caught at night in Matataki or Queens, and you must use the Poison Apple as bait. The Baron Garayan can only be caught at night in Muska Lack, and you must use the Potato Cake as bait. The Baron is always the biggest fish in the game.
Q: How do I remove the traps from the large chests?
A: The large chests that contain new weapons for your characters are always booby-trapped. The safest way to open these chests is to use a Treasure Key; these are found occasionally inside of small chests. The riskier way is to try removing the trap. If you do, you must guess whether the trap is a spell, a stinger or an explosion. Spell traps will curse your character, preventing them from changing weapons until they are cured by a Holy Water or they leave the dungeon. Explosion traps will damage your character. Stinger traps will poison your character, causing them to lose hit points until they are cured by an Antidote Drink or they leave the dungeon. If you guess the wrong type while removing a trap, watch the on-screen text as you suffer the trap’s effect; it will reveal what type the trap is so you won’t have to guess again.
Q: How do I open doors with crystals next to them?
A: Only Ruby can open these doors, and she does that by firing the right type of spell at the crystal. Examine the crystal to get a clue about what type of magic is needed to open the door.
Sacred beam indicates the Holy attribute
Green beam indicates the Wind attribute
Red Beam indicates the Fire attribute
Blue Beam indicates the Ice attribute
And Yellow Beam indicates the Thunder attribute
Change the attribute of Ruby’s ring to match to color of the crystal beside the door. Then press R2 to switch to the first-person view and then fire directly at the crystal. The door will open if the ring is set to the correct element.
Q: Where is the bonus dungeon, the Demon Shaft and how do I get into it?
A: The Demon Shaft is a bonus dungeon that becomes available after you defeat the Dark Genie at the end of the Gallery of Time. When you are given the option to save your game after the ending movie plays through, you must save if you want to enter the Demon Shaft. Once you have done this, all saved games on your PlayStation2 8 Megebyte memory card that have access to the Gallery of Time will also have access to the Demon Shaft. This means that, after you’ve finished the game and saved, when you load a saved game which has access to the Gallery of Time, the Demon Shaft will be available on the "Go to another area" menu. The earliest you can enter the Demon Shaft is immediately after you complete the first level of the Gallery of Time
Q: How do I get into the back areas of the Gallery of Time?
A: To access Back Floor areas in the Gallery of Time you will need an item called the flapping duster. These can occasionally be found in treasure chests, but they are extremely rare. You may need to visit each level of the dungeon several times before you find one. To use one, go to the carpet that’s indicated on your map by a question mark. Use the Flapping Duster on the carpet and go for a ride to the back floor area where fabulous items and powerful enemies await you.
