Like Yoshimitsu, there is practically nothing that Mitsurugi can't handle offensively or defensively. His combination of speed, power, reach, great side step stances and cancelable moves make him a very difficult character to dominate in any one setting.

In medium range, Mitsurugi has plenty of options for shoving the short pressure characters back or putting any containment characters on the other side of the stick (pun intended). At short range, he has more than enough tools for mixing up a semi-evasion game while shoving the opponent wherever he sees fit. The long range is lacking, but distance containment characters will have a very difficult time locking a good Mitsurugi down. Mitsurugi players should be able to control almost every aspect of the match without nearly as much effort required with other characters.

Twin Splinters (A, A)

Mitsurugi has some decent basic moves that can help keep opponents either off of him or help him advance forward, like Twin Splinters, Forced Player Divide (B, B) and Double Reaver (6, A, A) just to name a few. They come out pretty fast, have nice reach, and do some decent damage. Also make sure to check out Knee Slice (2, A) and Shin Slicer (1, A) for some very good basic low offensive options as well.

Wind Hole (6, B)

As an example of some of Mitsurugi's trickier offenses, you might want to experiment with his Wind Hole collection (High=6, B, 8 Low=6, B, 2 Mid=6, B). Some of his more advanced fake outs that require canceling B, such as Mountain Divide (B cancel A) or Mask (B, 6). If you practice Mountain Divide, note how late you are allowed to cancel the B move (this is good stuff to try using for throwing off your opponent's timing).

Heavenly Prayer (6, 6, B, B, B)

Mitsurugi's Heavenly Prayer is another easily executable string of attacks that offers good speed, power, and options. It is an easy follow up to punish whiffed moves and has both a Guard Break version (6, 6, B, B, hold B) and a version that flows into Half Moon Death (6, 6, B, B, B, 2 (or 8)).
