Taki

Taki is a pressure machine, with almost all of her moves requiring you to get right up into your opponent's face. Even the limited arsenal of longer range moves she possesses tend to serve for getting her back into violating the opponent's personal space.

Once you are in there, Taki has a lot of options and variety which allow her to really mix up her attack heights. Add onto the equation that her moves are very quick, and opponents who allow her inside will be very lucky to come out not taking some sort of damage.

This very intense offense, unfortunately, seems to also breed some major issues for Taki. If she isn't able to consistently close the gap between herself and the opponent, then Taki is going to essentially become a moving target (as most of her moves simply won't connect outside of short to borderline medium range). If Taki can't rush down someone who is really good at sustaining a range game, such as Kilik, then the match will become a major uphill battle for her.

Shadow Ripper (A, A, B)

Shadow Ripper along with Silent Shadow (A, A, 6, B), Stabbing Shadow (6, A, A, B), and Darkness Illusion (A, A, B) are great easy attack strings for new Taki players to practice their short pressure offense with. Everything comes out quickly and bleeds the opponent of health with the least amount of effort.

Shadow Banishment into Possession (B, A, QCB)

Taki has an insane amount of options open to her when performing either Shadow Banishment or Lightning Strike into the Possession stance, and should probably be any new player's first true experience in unlocking how wicked her short pressure game can get. The initial attack strings leading into Possession are quick, and the ten plus options she has open to her from the stance makes predicting Taki's next move difficult for opponents (you can go into a Storm Scroll--Possession, A -, Dream Scroll--Possession, B --, Vacuum Drop Kick--Possession, 2, K --, Bow Breaker Throw--Possession, A+G (or B+G)--, or Awakening Rush--Possession, 8, K, A--just to name a few).

Stalker (A+B)

For moving Taki in or out of short range, she has a couple of options available to her. She can back flip forward, backwards, or side to side using one of the several versions of Stalker, all with their own offensive attack so you are not just a leaping target. Also check out her options for Wind Roll One (B+K) and Wind Roll Two (2 (or 8), B+K) for a more ground-based advancement.
