Watch DVDs

Enjoy your favorite movies on your PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system.

To start a DVD:

  1. Press the Reset button on the front of the system and make sure the indicator light turns green, indicating that the system is on.
  2. Press the open button on the front of the systemt.
  3. Set the DVD in the disc holder with the label side facing up.
  4. Press down gently on the DVD until all three tabs on the disc holder are above the surface of the disc.
  5. Press the PUSH label in the disc cover to close it.
  6. After the disc cover is closed, the DVD will start.

To end a DVD

  1. During playback, press the SELECT button to display the control panel.
  2. Select Stop Icon and press X Button.
  3. Playback will stop.
  4. Press the open button on the front of the system and remove the DVD.

To display and use the DVD control panel

  1. During playback of a DVD, press the SELECT button.
  2. Use the directional buttons to select one of the following icons and press X Button.

DVD Control Panel

Menu Icon
Display the DVD-Video menu.

Top Menu Icon
Display the DVD-Video menu.

Return Icon
Return to the previous DVD menu screen.

Audio Options Icon
Display and change audio options on DVDs with multiple audio tracks.

Angle Options Icon
Display and change viewing angles on DVDs recorded with multi-angle options.

Subtitle Options Icon
Display and change subtitle options of DVDs with subtitle options.

Go To Icon
Skip to a selected title, chapter or a specified time. For more information, see Controlling DVD Playback.

Set Up Icon
Display setup options, such as language, picture quality and Parental Control level. For more information, see Controlling DVD Playback.

Time Display Icon
Display time settings, such as the current tile or chapter number and elapsed time. For more information, see Controlling DVD Playback.

Help Icon
Display the function of the buttons on the analog controller (DUALSHOCK®2).

Go To Chapter Icon
Enter the number of the chapter you want to play. For more information, see Controlling DVD Playback.

Prev Next Icon
Returns/skips to the beginning of the current, previous or next chapter.

Search Icon
Fast reverse/forward playback on the screen to help you find a particular scene. For more information, see Controlling DVD Playback.

Slow Icon
Change playback/reverse to slow motion.

Play Icon Pause Icon Stop Icon
Start, pause or stop playback.

A B Repeat Icon
Specify a scene for playback. For more information, see Using DVD Playback Modes

Shuffle Play Icon
Begins playback of titles or chapters in random order. For more information, see Using DVD Playback Modes

Program Play Icon
Begins playback of titles or chapters in a programmed order. For more information, see Using DVD Playback Modes

Repeat Play Icon
Selects repeated playback of all the entire disc, or one title or one chapter. For more information, see Using DVD Playback Modes

Play List Icon
For DVD-RW discs (VR mode), select Original or Play List content. For more information, see Using DVD Playback Modes

Clear List Icon
Clears selected numbers of playback modes. For more information, see Using DVD Playback Modes
