Registering Bluetooth® devices

The way you register (pair) Bluetooth® devices has changed, and you can now register more devices.

Registering a BD remote control

Select [Register BD Remote Control] under settings (Settings) > accessory settings (Accessory Settings) in the home menu. Follow the on-screen instructions to register your BD remote control.

Note
You can register only one BD remote control at a time. If you register another BD remote control, you will overwrite information about the currently registered remote control.

Registering a Bluetooth®-compatible device

Select [Manage Bluetooth® Devices] under settings (Settings) > accessory settings (Accessory Settings) in the home menu. If you already have registered Bluetooth® devices, select [Register New Device]. Follow the on-screen instructions to register the new device.

Bluetooth devices

If you already have the maximum number of devices registered, you must first delete a device that you are not using from the list of registered devices.

Managing Bluetooth® devices

You can confirm the connection status of Bluetooth®-compatible devices on your PS3™ system, or connect and disconnect devices. To do so, select [Manage Bluetooth® Devices] under settings (Settings) > accessory settings (Accessory Settings) in the home menu. After selecting the device that you want to manage, press the triangle button, and then select an option from the options menu.

Using the [BD Internet Connection] setting

A [BD Internet Connection] setting has been added under settings (Settings) > bd settings (BD/DVD Settings) in the home menu.

This setting lets you decide if you want your PS3™ system to connect to the Internet while playing BDs that support Profile 2.0 (BD-LIVE). By connecting to the Internet, your system can obtain additional features for the video that is playing.

You can set your system to connect to the Internet automatically or prompt you for confirmation.

Confirm Set your system to prompt for confirmation before connecting to the Internet.
Allow Set your system to connect to the Internet without confirmation.

Using the [Audio Output Device] setting

An [Audio Output Device] setting has been added under settings (Settings) > remote settings (Remote Play Settings) in the home menu.

With this setting, you can use your PSP® system as a remote control for playing audio on your PS3™ system. If your PS3™ system is connected to an audio output device such as an AV receiver, you can operate the device without turning on your TV.

You can set which system plays audio during remote play with a PSP® system.

PSP® Play audio on the PSP® system.

BD Live support

BD Live

You can now play discs that support Blu-ray Disc Profile 2.0 (BD-LIVE). You can connect to the Internet while playing discs that support this format so that you can obtain additional features. Features that are available vary depending on the software in use.

  • "BD-LIVE" logo is a trademark of the Blu-ray Disc Association.

Resuming play of DVDs

You can now resume playing a DVD from the point where you previously stopped it, even if you turn off your PS3™ system or eject the disc. Your system saves a record of the scene that was playing when you stopped playback so it knows where to resume playing.

Note
You can also use the resume play feature on some Blu-ray Discs. You cannot use resume play on Blu-ray Discs that support BD-J (Blu-ray Disc Java).

Using the [Mosquito Noise Reduction] option

A [Mosquito Noise Reduction] option has been added under AV settings (AV Settings) in the control panel for standard DVDs.

This option lets you reduce so-called “mosquito noise,” or flicker, that appears on the edge of visual images while you are watching standard DVDs.

You can set the option to off or to one of three mosquito noise reduction levels.

Off Turn off mosquito noise reduction.
1 - 3 Reduce mosquito noise. Increasing the number reduces the noise further.

Note
In addition to standard DVDs, you can use this noise-reduction feature on some Blu-ray Discs. However, you cannot use it on video content recorded in the BDMV format on commercially available BD-ROM media, which includes most videos in Blu-ray Disc format that are now on the market.
