awesome co-op play and great sound

by plaztiksyke Feb 10, 2009, 1:57 PM PST

During the fall, we had an exchange teacher stay with us. For about 2 months, he and I spent many evening playing 2-player co-op in Blast Factor's Basic Research. It was so much fun! The giant explosion, which happens when you defeat a level boss, really gives my Velodyne subwoofer a workout! The game also makes great use of the SIXAXIS motion controls.

This is a great example of a game made even more fun with the addition of trophies. Some of them are really fun to get.

My primary complaint would be that there are no saves. This means you have to play marathon sessions and/or leave the console on while you try and beat one of the game's modes. I love the fact the game isn't too easy and that it has lots of great levels and content. I don't like wasting electricity so as to not lose my place in the game, though. I sincerely hope they patch the game to allow inter-game continues and drop-in support for multiple players.

This game and Everyday Shooter are the two must-own dual-stick shooters on PSN. Highly recommended!

A worthy dual-stick shooter

by JohnnyDeath Nov 24, 2008, 2:06 PM PST

Before Super Stardust HD hit PSN, this was the game to get. It has great controls and gameplay and some nice SIXAXIS features, lots of levels, and plenty of things for you to shoot while dodging.
