Fun social game, controllers & graphics need work...

by frequencydip Dec 05 2008 12:12 AM

This is a fun game to play with friends.

Cons:
The graphics are not very good, it limited to 720p
There is excessive animation between questions. I've seen the animation and want to play the game and find that your waiting for the next question allot. there should be a option to turn animation off.
The buzzers are not bluetooth, supper annoying you have to use a USB dongle to pair the controllers, they are difficult to pair and sometime lose connection during game play...
The game modes are limited there should be more game modes like 30 and they should be random so you don't play the same one each time. They currently have 6 points builder, bomb juggler, point stealer, pie fight, place your bet and the final round. If there were more modes you could also play longer rounds. Personally I hate bomb juggler and pie fight because they remove game show aspect from the game. it becomes can you sit there with the bomb and then pass it right before it explodes and screw the net person, its really cheep and lame...

All in all I enjoy playing with friends and it great to engage friends who don't normally play video games.

The best trivia game for PS3, but not without fault.

by Amir29 Nov 25 2008 06:56 PM

Buzz! is an excellent party game. Have a bunch of people over that aren't necessarily gamers? Whip out the included buzzers and let the fun begin. The game has an excellent presentation for first timers and guests. The host, Buzz, is very charasmatic and it has small comical touches (ie: funny buzzer sounds, and funny characters) to keep the fun and laughter going for the night. The game also already has 4 add-on packs available with 500 questions each to keep the subjects expanding over broader areas. But, the game is lacking in many places; Mainly, for those looking for replay value outside of guests coming to play.

Presentation wise, the gae show is always the same, and the introduction to the each round never changes. Buzz! is always making the same jokes making them boring and ultimately just something you want to skip. The online aspect only allows one PS3 for each contestant. So, if you have a friend over, one will have to watch, while you play online. That wouldn't be so bad, but the game dumbs itself down by not giving you all of those charasmatic rounds and their gimicks as an option.

Trophies (for the most part) are based on how much you play and not what you accomplish. Playing by yourself doesn't mean you'll get a cpu opponent either. It means you play a beat the clock contest with yourself.

For those of you that want an accessible multi-player game that's fun for everyone, this is it!! But, for those of you that are looking to get longevity out of a title for yourselves, you're better off looking elsewhere.

Best Trivia Game Available

by StalkingSilence Nov 24 2008 03:23 PM

This game is not only one of the best trivia video games out there, it's one of the best (local) multiplayer/party games available for non-gaming audiences. It is the go-to game for my wife and her friends when they come over. The sweet spot is ths simplicity in controls but difficulty in content. Very easy for a new player to get on and if they know their stuff, they can come in first place in no time.

The questions aren't linked to your system clock like previous Buzz! games, they are actually checked to see if you've seen them before. So odds are you'll go through about 5000 questions before seeing the same ones again.

Also, the addition of mybuzzquiz.com enabled user-generated content which can make this game playable for a lot longer. I personally prefer the DLC quiz packs as they integrate right into the game.

Look out for more features coming down the road from Relentless Software, they've already promised to support this game via patches. Can't want to see what they come up with. 4.5/5
