Great puzzle game - Cuboid.

A defenite favorite. If you like puzzle games it is well worth the $10. Hours of fun in this one.

fun, challenging, and level sharing makes it even better

by plaztiksyke Jun 26, 2009, 3:05 PM PDT

This is a nice little puzzle game that gently ramps up the difficulty keeping the music calm enough so that you never get stressed. While the 8-hour hidden trophy is absolutely ridiculous, and a waste of electricity to get, the other trophies can be gotten while just playing through the game. The graphics and sound are so-so, decent but not really amazing.

The level editor pack that was just released is what makes this game so much cooler. Similar to the echochrome patch that released a week earlier, you can easily browse, search, and rate user-created levels and hone in on specific authors. When creating my first levels, figuring out the mechanics of how to build a good, working level was really fun and interesting -- it's not as easy as it looks! Also similar to echochrome, there are trophies for uploading and downloading/rating user-created levels.

Major complaints: the music would be so much better if it were a higher quality encoding, and the XMB music when selecting the game is REALLY loud (Magic Ball has the same problem).

Even so, this is a solid purchase if you like relaxing games like flOw or Flower and/or puzzle games like Elefunk, Locoroco, Echochrome, or Piyotama.

Recommended.

The gamers' block.

If you’re a fan of puzzle games, there really isn’t any reason to not download Cuboid. It manages to hit all the right notes with its simple premise disguising its deep and intuitive puzzles. It certainly won’t grab your eye like the aesthetic found in echochrome, but it’s far more content to play things safe and be a ton more fun.
