An amazing and mystical adventure...

by Yoxiv9000 Sep 30, 2009, 7:37 PM PDT

Much like the underappreciated gems Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, Folklore has a unique feel that draws you in and dares you to embark on a dark fantasy joyride not unlike Jim Henson's Dark Crystal. Full of wild and curious creatures whose souls can be captured with the innovative Six-Axis control, and a beautiful soundtrack brimming with haunting pieces and ear tickling tunes that captures the feeling of a fairy tale come to life!

The story of Ellen, a young woman searching for the answers to her past; and Keats, a skeptical journalist for a failing magazine, control both in the 7 realms of the Neatherworld to uncover a startling secret. Told through a unique mix of FMV, Static conversations, and semi-manga like cut-scenes, the story jumps to life in a way you'll never see in any other game.

It's a solid title, and a recommand buy if you love titles like Ico.

Not A bad journey to the end!

by c3power Aug 30, 2009, 3:49 AM PDT

Not a bad journey, but it could have been improved without the painful slow start in Doolin and the constant tramping about. I know that questing is like that but this was a little overdone. The tips and hints are really painful in the picture books with only half the creatures recognizable and a tneth of the especially the LAST Folklore being incorrect!!!. Thanks for nothing for that one! I had to reload the painfully long final sequence and movie three times after being deafeted until I worked out the proper sequence for the final kill.

I will play some of the downloadable quests but the replayability doesn't compare to an RPG like Baldurs Gate i or ii

Good game but..

by georgiemark Aug 15, 2009, 5:54 AM PDT

I still haven't figured out why we're forced to play the same stage with both protagonists?

What is even worse is the game doesn't warn you about that wacky idea the developers had! You are likely to reach the end of chapter 5 with one character only to realise that the game is forcing you to go through the same levels from the beginning.

The game has some bugs, as Keats when your power gauge reaches maximum and you transform into super-Keats the game screen freezes for a good 2 seconds the same thing happens as you revert to normal Keats.

On the plus side the game's graphics are very good and the gameplay is a breath of fresh air. You cannot help but to collect all folk and power them up.

Change of Pace

by echoxxmuse Apr 20, 2009, 5:46 PM PDT

Personally, I loved this game, I must admit that at the beginning I was a bit skeptical because of the closed environment, but everything else was perfect. I found both story lines entertaining as well as the new gameplay. It's just a real shame that it hasn't gotten any credit for how awesome it is, I would definately get a sequel. :D

Folklore

by Bruno911 Feb 13, 2009, 3:49 PM PST

It's not my style of game. Well, it's nicely made and all but I wouldn't have bought it. I received it with my PS3 system and I tested a little bit. The story is frankly very weird and I prefer games like Dead Space Dismemberment and Race Driver Gris which I will get both of them very soon. Finally the games is really good if you think of the graphics but it's not really for teens , it's for kids.

Sexy Sleeper

by True_Mana_Beast Feb 4, 2009, 4:51 PM PST

This is a solid, fun, and differant game. In this case differant not meaning bad it is a murder mystery/thriller type story with a action adventure feel. THe enviorments are nicley made with the exception of one. And there is just enough cute and humor behind the game for it to seem light when it needs to. Also this is teh first game I have played in which using the six asis didn't seem like an after thought, it is a important part of the play and feel and ands some freshness to the game. The length while not horribly short would be if you weren't forced to play the first part of the game twice. Solid game and I strongly recommend it.

Folklore Captured My Imagination

by SessilePoet Nov 24, 2008, 11:15 AM PST

Folklore may be one of the most underrated PS3 games out there. It needs way more attention than it's gotten. Folklore seems like a story come straight out of a Tim Burton film. One of the things that hooked me into this game was the music. This is some of the greatest music in a video game I've ever heard. It plays as an action/adventure rpg and uses the Sixaxis controls in a way that works and is fun. If you've played this game, hopefully you see what I'm saying. If you haven't played Folklore, you're missing out on, in my opinion, one of the best PlayStation 3 games around.
