LocoRoco Disappointo

by JonnyGamer May 16, 2009, 4:42 PM PDT

I was blown away by the first two LocoRoco games for PSP so this was an impulse buy when I saw it on the PlayStation Network. I did not enjoy the new dynamic of "follow the butterfly" I guess I've always been a, "If it isn't broken, don't try to fix it" kind of guy. I couldn't even be bothered with trying to finish this one because of the disappointment it brought me. If you really like the first LocoRoco, maybe you will enjoy this more than I did. I hope they make a sequel but bring back the old familiar style and controls of LocoRoco!

addictive music, kid-friendly, sometimes frustrating

by plaztiksyke Feb 10, 2009, 1:14 PM PST

I'm not a fan of overly cutesy Japanese games, but this was is pretty great. The music alone, which adds more singing voices when there are more creates on screen, is the best part.

The gameplay is fun for a while, but after a couple of times you start to realize that many of the creates will just be too frustrating to get. The primary example is when you need the creates to stack on top of one another -- pressing the button quickly, or slowly and holding it, it takes a long time and seem to randomly work or not.

The sometimes frustrating controls and lack of trophies makes going back a difficult value proposition.

Even so, I recommend checking out this game -- especially if you love quirky music or have kids.

Fun for like 30min. If you're a fan of the PSP episode, don't buy this one
