Got it for free. Was entertaining for a couple of days. Haven't picked it up since though... I wouldn't recommend it to any paying customer though.

Its fun but not long.

Rag Doll Kung Fu is a fun game, especially when you wanna beat your friends at a game, with the possibility to record said butt kicking, and do it in an outrageously fun way, well, like I said, this is the game. I got it free, thanks to Sprint, so I can't complain.

Not warth the money

by pieeater100 Aug 29, 2009, 1:55 PM PDT

I bought this game last month thinking it was goning to be something like super smash bros. brawl. when I played it the sixaxis controlls are very annoying and somestimes non responsive. and there is NO OLINE but if you have a friend over you can play up to 1-4 players. so if you have no friends coming over to soon this game could entertain you for 30 mins.

They got the physics right, but the fun was left out

by Pretender2545 Aug 20, 2009, 1:23 PM PDT

When RDKF hit PSN, many people went out and spent 10 dollars on it, only to find out it was free a week later. Those who spent ten dollars on it, got half a product. Rag Doll Kung Fu is a charming title that has enough mini games to last you about two hours.
In Rag Doll Kung Fu, you participate in seven mini games that help you to learn the ropes in the game. Sadly, there is nothing left to do except try and beat your old scores. There is not much playability after you've beaten the game. The mini games help you to customize your very own rag doll avatar (hurray for sackboy) and you can duke it out with your friends. Locally. Thats right folks, no online so your stuck with the computer. Which is extremely cheap at times. If your lucky enough to get silver on all the challenges, then kudos to you. The controls are lacking and very unresponsive. Now, as good an idea as it is, we all hate sixaxis right? Well, in this game, they fine tuned it, but more often then not, I wasn't doing the firefly when I wanted to. No matter how many times I held the square button and jolted the controller in the direction I wanted to, it wouldn't firefly. During one of the challenges, this happened to me many times and the firefly is essential to winning. And the cheap computer never runs out of chi which is extremely unfair, so they have unlimited firefly.
The graphics on the other hand are gorgeous. In HD, they are beautiful and everything is immensely detailed. The sound though, is incredibly annoying. During the introductory scene of each match, you have the option to move your arms and legs via R2 L2 and sixaxis. But, the dolls make extremely obnoxious noises and the music overall is annoying. The wannabe chinese music mixed in with hip hop will make you mute your stereo. All in all, Rag Doll Kung Fu will give you about 2 hours worth of fun. That is, if you haven't smashed your controller throught the wall.

Rag Doll Kung Fu Review

by sethchilders Aug 19, 2009, 8:40 PM PDT

It's a good downloadable PSN title...at least for the multiplayer. The game is fun to play, and has a lot of charm to the game, but there's not much depth to it.

The combat is fun, but sometimes the controls are a bit gimmicky. It's a lot of fun to pick a staff and whack the enemy repeatedly with it, or to throw an enemy off a cliff, but there's not much to it. The motion controls are just annoying having to shake your controller to charge an energy sphere attack or to launch yourself in the air. And probably the biggest complaint is the lack of online multiplayer. It's good to fight against a friend, but not being able to face anyone online is a huge disappointment.

The single-player campaign is just to prepare you for the multiplayer. All you do is just participate in a series of challenges, and there's only a few of them, but even by then you will get tired of it. Luckily you can gain costumes for your Rag Doll (including a Sackboy costume if you're really good) which does add replayable value to it, but there's just not that much to motivate you to keep playing.

However, the game does have great visuals. The lighting is very impressive and everything is very detailed, and there is definitely a lot of charm to the Rag Dolls in this game.

Unfortunately, there isn't much here to keep you coming back for more. Luckily I got this for free, but it I were to pay for the full game, I wouldn't say this is worth the full price.

A solid, fun, fighting game.

by Vesartis Jul 28, 2009, 4:04 PM PDT

I downloaded this game free while it was sponsored by Sprint. I would not have downloaded it otherwise. I was surprised by how good it was graphically and how fun it was to play. Levels are well-rendered with nice lighting effects and good textures. Characters look like they are made of plastic and move around accordingly. Physics are great and animations are very clean. The music suits the game well and the imitation kung fu noises are hilarious. It is hard to play this game without smiling. What gives this game no more then three stars is its lack of online multiplayer, its difficulty, and its few levels. Online multiplayer would have made sense in this game and wold have expanded the experience but unfortunately, it was not included. The game requires precision and timing to complete the challanges and can be frustrating when simpply trying to unlock more customization options for your character. There are only a handful of small levels which can be worn out quite quickly. Basicly, this is game is well-made yet incomplete, serving as a solid local multiplayer platforming fighting game, but not much else.

This game is great.

by Juan1992 Jul 28, 2009, 10:30 AM PDT

To start off, this game was free to download for only one week. After the week passed and you haven't got the game yet, you have to pay $10 to get it. Even though you're one of those people that havent gotten the game yet, I still recommend it to all PS3 users. The game has plenty of features and things to do that will keep you playing for weeks. For 1 player mode, you can play challenges to win trophies, costumes, and characters. You can also see your highest score on the leaderboards. For multiplayer mode, you can play with 3 of your friends or CPU to play battle mode, capture the fish, dodgeball, or king of the hill. The only thing missing is that you cannot play king of the hill with CPU. You can set the settings if you want to play in teams or against each other. Multiplayer mode is only offline. The only online feature there is in the game are the leaderboards. You can create your own ragdoll with the costumes you have unlocked. As for gameplay, it features a variety of moves. It's like playing a fighting game on the Wii. You can shake/move your controller to perform some cool and affective moves. When playing dodgeball, you can easily get hit by the ball if it barely hits you. Sometimes, the ball goes slow, but it can still kill you easily. Also when playing challenge mode, the AI can sometimes be unfair for the player because at times you can be stuck between your enemies and they don't let you go till you die. Even with your block or attacking, you will not escape. Overall for the gameplay, it might be too hard, but you'll still enjoy playing Rag Doll Kung Fu. As for the graphics, I have to admit. For a PSN game, the visuals look great. It's if I'm playiing a PS3 game not a PSN game. Rag Doll Kung Fu doesn't have any slowdown or any pop in's whatsoever. The game stays at exactly 60 FPS. As for the sound, the game could of featured a lot more tracks, but the music is still great. The only bad thing is the repetetive screaming when the crowd cheers. It happens a lot when you perform a special move. You'll hear it a lot. Overall, I recommend this game to everyone. This is one of the best PSN games this year. It's definitely worth buying for only $10.
Presentation: 8.8/10
Graphics: 9.0/10
Sound: 8.3/10
Gameplay: 9.3/10
Overall 9/10

I've got a complaint.

by Kenku1 Jul 26, 2009, 9:15 PM PDT

Yeah, one thing... Why in the world would you make AI that cheats it's way into winning? Seriously! My firefly attacks keep messing up on me, my aiming never goes the right way, THERE IS NO DIFFICULTY SETTING, it won't let me heal plus it's way too hard. I just want the white ninja gear, BUT, NO, it won't let me get it because survival mode is INSANELY hard to beat. This game REALLY needs to be fixed. I CRIED when I lost. I was so close to plastic!
