Spore anyone

by Elusive325 Nov 1, 2009, 8:52 PM PST

Just from the beginining of the game and the gameplay and growth the followes. The movement and controlls are so simular to the beginning of $pore that it seems like there has been some creative imput from the developer. But at the price of a 6th of full sized games, its a great buy.

looks and sounds great, local co-op and trophies gives some ext

by plaztiksyke Oct 21, 2009, 10:11 AM PDT

This game is a bit like Linger in Shadows: it is artsy, and can be appreciated on many levels to those who have an open mind. It also has a pick-up-and-play element, like Super Rub-a-Dub that is great for kids and people who are intimidated by modern games. It's this kind of content that distinguishes the PS3 from its competitors: accessible, but not patronizing or overly childish.

flOw recently was patched to add trophy support, and it breathed new life into flOw for us. Linger in Shadows and Flower's trophies are abstract in description, and only by getting a few of them by accident do you start to unravel the mystery of how to get them. flOw's added trophies are pretty clear about their goal, and encourage exploration of the layers of gameplay. Some of the trophies are more difficult to get in co-op play, while at least one requires co-op play. Normally this would irritate me (I don't like replaying a game to get all the trophies), but flOw is abstract enough that it doesn't feel repetitive.

I think it's great that Sony has been making an effort to add trophies to some of these "classic" PSN titles. (Lemmings also recently got a trophy patch.) Hopefully they continue this trend with Piyotama, Everyday Shooter, and Elefunk.

My only complaint is that the sound assets in flOw really could have used an update to be lossless. It makes effective use of surround sound, but because of the lossy nature of the assets, it's never really enveloping. This is what is preventing this from being a perfect score.

Highly recommended.

Beautiful game

by FightinRedPanda1 Apr 27, 2009, 4:02 PM PDT

ok, the reason I bought this game was because I needed a game that costs under $10. I did my research and this game looked the best to buy. So I did, I love the beautiful backgrounds, skeleton figures, nice sound all that good stuff. People call this game relaxing, to a point it is relaxing but it wears your shoulder out using the sixaxis so by the time your done with that creature at least MY shoulder was worn out. It also took a while for me to get the sixaxis controls down. the games quite short but what do you expect from a 8 dollar game.
all in all 4 out of 5

reply to juggaloRazzam: the game was'nt supposed to be Spore, the idea is that its supposed to be simple and relaxing

Ok, but not enough...

I liked this game's concept. You start out as a little simple lifeform & as you survive & eat enemies you evolve to become bigger & more advanced. But, I beat the whole game in 1 day :(

This game would be better if they expanded it massive Next Gen PS3 style. As follows:

1. simple organism
2. multi-cell
3. simple sea creatures - you choose path -> Fish, crustacean, etc.
4. Mammal like whale or dolphins, or walking catfish, or some sort of amphipian (frog, lizard)
5. Land creature: choices amphipian, reptile, mammal,
6. If mammal - canine, feline, primate countless choices....
7. And eventually you'd either be some sort of caveman - human, or some kinda cat-man creature, lizard-man creature, etc...
8. Final level of game would be when you reach the ability to be civilized = build home, speak, etc.

Now THAT would've been a game - who's with me?

Love it.

So peaceful and beautiful looking. I really love the choice of music for the game. it is a beautiful peace that has such a relaxing sound to it. Just letting the main score loop is wonderful. Definitely recommend to those who enjoy laid back games. Reminds me of the peacefulness in Endless Ocean. The sounds and sights just draw you in. Really looking forward to flower.

Addicting

by KAhsanU Feb 3, 2009, 10:23 AM PST

It's really weird. The whole concept for the game is really simple and doesn't seem too interesting. However, as soon as you start playing, you get hooked and can keep playing for hours. The background music for the game is also amazing and incredibly relaxing.

Learn to relax!!

by TheBananastrings Dec 24, 2008, 9:41 PM PST

Despite what some other reviewers have said, this is a wonderfully relaxing game & well worth a play!!

Not all great games need a high score to tell you how well you are doing!

Just play & get your relax on!!

ROCK ON!!

what a waste

by ULTMTavngrs Dec 21, 2008, 8:14 PM PST

graphics are pretty cool but there is no point to this game. no score is recorded and pretty much only a three year old would enjoy this game. honestly, it was a waste of my money.
