PLAYSTATION®Eye FAQ’s

• How is PLAYSTATION®Eye different from EyeToy® USB Cambera?

  The PLAYSTATION®Eye has many improvements over the original EyeToy® USB Cambera. First, it has an ultra fast frame rate for improved video tracking and responsiveness and 4x the resolution of the EyeToy® USB Cambera. The PLAYSTATION®Eye also comes with a built in 4 microphone array for superior audio quality as well as the convenience of not needing a separate head set to chat. It has also been engineered to perform well in low light conditions and includes a dual action lens for wide angle and close up options. Overall, it was made specifically to enhance the communication and interactive gaming experience within the PLAYSTATION®3 system.

  * The PLAYSTATION®Eye is not compatible with the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system or EyeToy®camera-compatible games.

• Does the PLAYSTATION®Eye come with any software?

  EyeCreate™ editing software is available for free download on the PLAYSTATION®Network. PLAYSTATION®Network registration is required. The EyeCreate™ editing software allows you to save photos, video and audio clips to your PS3™ hard disk drive and apply eye-catching visual effects to your images. Different capture modes like time-lapse and slow motion open up a world of possibilities to be explored further in EyeCreate's editing suite, where you can turn your media into professional looking movies.

• What other games are available for the PLAYSTATION®Eye?

  THE EYE OF JUDGMENT™ is a visually stunning experience that adds a third dimension to the trading card genre. Specially coded cards transform into amazing spells and creatures before you through the power of the PLAYSTATION®Eye.

  There will also be a variety of games and interactive screen savers available on the PLAYSTATION®Network throughout the next few months. Be on the lookout for titles such as Aquatopia™, Operation: Creature Feature™ and Trials of Topoq™.

• How does video chat work with the PLAYSTATION®Eye?

  First, you have to sign up for a PLAYSTATION®Network account if you haven't already. Access to the PLAYSTATION®Network is free* and easy to set-up. Once that is complete, just plug your PLAYSTATION®Eye camera into one of the USB ports on your PLAYSTATION®3 and you are ready for chat.

  *User responsible for all applicable Internet fees. Some services or features may require additional fees.

• How do I turn on the audio on my PLAYSTATION®Eye camera?

  Please select Settings on the XMB. Under Settings, please choose Accessory Settings, and then choose Audio Device Settings and lastly choose Input Settings. Under Input Settings, there are two options, a Do Not Use option and a USB Camera option. Please choose USB Camera and the audio for your camera will be on and you will be ready to chat.

• How many people can I chat with at one time?

  Up to six people can chat at one time.

• Can I share photos or video while I chat?

  You can share photos while you chat, however, you cannot share videos.

• Can I use the PLAYSTATION®Eye with my PC?

  No, PLAYSTATION®Eye will only work with the PLAYSTATION®3 system

• Can you chat with PC webcams using the PLAYSTATION®Eye through the PLAYSTATION®3 system?

  Since PLAYSTATION®Network is a closed system, you can only chat among PLAYSTATION®3 owners and cannot contact someone on a PC with the PLAYSTATION®Eye on the PLAYSTATION®3 system.

• Will the PLAYSTATION®Eye automatically work as an audio input device in PLAYSTATION®3 games?

  Yes.

• Can I take pictures and videos with my PLAYSTATION®Eye?

  Using the EyeCreate™ software, you can take and edit pictures and videos with your PLAYSTATION®Eye.

• Will I be able to save my pictures and videos to my hard disc drive on my PLAYSTATION®3 system so I can transfer them to my PC?

  Yes.
