Game
Playing PlayStation® format software
You can now select [Custom] for the assignment pattern under [Assign Buttons]. This option lets you assign functions to the PSP® system buttons however you like for playing PlayStation® format software that you download from PLAYSTATION®Store.
For details on playing PlayStation® format software, refer to the online user’s guide for the PSP® system.
To use this option:
- Press the home button on the PSP® system when you are playing PlayStation® format software and then select [Controller Settings] > [Assign Buttons].
- Press the down button several times to select [Custom], and then press the
button.
- Use the PSP® system’s directional buttons to assign button functions.
Pressing the
button resets the button assignments to [Type 1].
Network
Quitting remote play
You can now choose to either turn off your PS3™ system or leave it turned on after you select [Quit Remote Play]. For details on remote play, refer to the online user’s guide for the PSP® system.
To use this setting:
- During remote play, press the home button on the PSP® system and then select [Quit Remote Play].
- Select either [Quit and Turn Off the PS3™ System] or [Quit Without Turning Off the PS3™ System].

Select [Quit Without Turning Off the PS3™ System] if you are using your PS3™ system to copy files, or perform background downloading and similar tasks that require you to keep your system on.
Using Skype 
Skype is an application that lets you make free* calls over the Internet to anyone else using Skype, anywhere in the world. Skype for the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system has the following features:
- Make calls to or receive calls from Skype users (free*)
- Make calls to any phone (SkypeOut, a paid feature)
- Receive calls from any phone (SkypeIn, a paid feature)
- Send and receive voicemail (a paid feature in some cases)
*Applies only to calls made to other Skype users. For calls made to standard (landline or mobile) phones, you need to purchase Skype Credit in advance. Charges are per minute. User is responsible for all Internet fees. For details about Skype, visit the Skype Web page (http://www.skype.com).
Hint
You must have access to the Internet via a wireless access point or hotspot to use the Skype feature.

Notices
- You cannot make emergency calls using Skype. Skype is not a replacement for your standard (landline or mobile) phone and cannot be used for emergency calling. See Skype's terms and conditions at http://www.skype.com/eula and http://www.skype.com/tos.
- The following are required to use Skype on a PSP® system:
- PSP® system (PSP-2000 series)
- Memory Stick Duo™ media (requires free space of at least 1 MB)
- Internet connection (wireless access point or hotspot)
- Headphones with remote control for the PSP-2000 series (PSP-S140 U, not included) + headset (PSP-270 U, not included)
Hint
Attach the remote control to the headset and then connect the headset to the PSP® system. (The headphones included with the remote control are not used.)

Creating an account
To use Skype, you must first create an account (Skype Name). If you are already using Skype and have obtained an account from a PC, you can also use the same account with Skype for the PSP® system.
- Insert Memory Stick Duo™ media in the PSP® system.
- Select [Create New Skype Account] from
(Skype™) under
(Network). The system will connect to the Internet.

- Follow the on-screen instructions to create an account.
Signing in
- Insert Memory Stick Duo™ media (with account information) in the PSP® system.
- Select
(Network) >
(Skype™) > [Sign In].
- Enter the Skype Name and password that you set under [Create New Skype Account].
- Select [Sign In].
Adding to your contact list
You can add people you call often to your contact list. The online status of the person ("contact") who was added to the list is displayed as an icon.
- Select
(Contacts) from the Skype menu screen, and then press the
button.
- Select [Add a Contact].

- Select [Add Skype Contact].
- Enter the full name, Skype Name, or e-mail address of the contact who you want to add, and then select [Find].
Information about Skype users who are registered on the Internet is retrieved and displayed.
- Select the person who you want to add.

To view a person's profile, select the person, press the
button, and then select [View Profile] from the options menu.
- Enter a personal message to be sent to the person who you want to add, and then select [OK].

The request to add a person to your contact list is sent to that person. If the person approves your add request, the online status of the added person is displayed in your contact list. You will also be added to that person's contact list
Making a call to someone on the contact list
- Select
(Contacts) from the Skype menu screen.
- Select the person who you want to call from the contact list.

You can call anyone on your contact list whose online status is
(Online), has call forwarding set, or has voicemail.
When the call is started, the contact's Skype Name is displayed. When the person answers, you can begin talking.
Receiving a call
- Sign in to Skype and set your online status either to
(Online) or to another status that enables calls to be received.
Calls will not be received when your online status is
(Offline).
- When the ringtone sounds (rings), select [Answer] on the incoming call screen, and then begin talking.
Hint
While you are talking, you cannot receive a call from another Skype user or from a standard (landline or mobile) phone.
Signing out
When you close Skype, you are disconnected from the Internet and signed out.
- Press the
button at the Skype menu screen.
- Select [Yes].
