DVD Player Software - Additional Features Back to top

Version 3.02 of the DVD Player Software offers additional options you can access during DVD playback.

NOTE: These features may not be available on all DVDs.

Additional On-screen Control Panel Options

A few new playback mode features have been added to the on-screen Control Panel. You can see these options when you press Select Btn while a DVD is playing.

The new features are:

  • A-B Repeat
  • Shuffle Play
  • Program Play
  • Repeat Play
  • Play List/Original (P. List)
  • Clear
  • Slow Reverse

A-B Repeat

This option allows you to repeat a section of video repeatedly.

To designate the beginning and end of the video clip you want to repeat:

  1. Insert a DVD video into your system, close the disc tray and wait for the DVD video to load.
  2. Press Select Btn to display the Control Panel.
  3. Use the directional buttons to select the A-B icon.
  4. Press X Btn once to indicate Point A (the beginning of your clip). The message "Point A has been set" will display and the B portion of the A-B icon on the Control Panel will start blinking.
  5. Press X Btn again to indicate point B (the end of your clip).
  6. Repeated playback of the video between point A and point B will begin.
  7. Select the Clear icon on the Control Panel and press X Btn to discontinue A-B Repeat mode and resume normal viewing.

Shuffle Play

This option plays the contents of your DVD in a random order. The shuffle option may not be available on all DVDs.

There are two different shuffle settings: Title Shuffle and Chapter Shuffle. Chapter Shuffle plays the contents of the current title in a random order. This means if you select Chapter Shuffle while viewing the main feature on your DVD, you'll see the different scenes of the feature played in a random order. You will not see portions of the video outside the main feature stored on your DVD, such as bonus features.

Title Shuffle, on the other hand, plays the entire contents of the DVD in a random order. This means you'll see materials from all different areas of the DVD shuffled together including the main feature, bonus features, and any other materials stored on the disc.

To view a DVD in Shuffle mode:

  1. Insert a DVD into your system, close the disc tray and wait for the DVD to load.
  2. Press Select Btn to display the Control Panel.
  3. Use the directional buttons to select the Shuffle Play icon and press X Btn once to enter Title Shuffle.
  4. Press X Btn again to switch to Chapter Shuffle.
  5. Press X Btn once more to turn off the Shuffle feature.

Program Play

This option lets you program a sequence of different chapters from a DVD and view them in the order of your choice. The program option may not be available on all DVDs.

To program a sequence of chapters for your viewing:

  1. Insert a DVD into your system, close the disc tray and wait for the DVD to load.
  2. Press Select Btn to display the Control Panel.
  3. Use the directional buttons to select the Program Play icon and press X Btn to view the Program Setup menu.
  4. Highlight 1. Title and press X Btn.
  5. The cursor will move to the right to the first column of numbers. This is a list of the Title numbers available from your DVD. Select a title number and press X Btn.
  6. The cursor will then move to the far right column of numbers. This is a list of the Chapters in the Title you selected in step 5. Select the chapter you want to view first and press X Btn.
    • Alternatively, you may select All and press X Btn to program all chapters in the current title for viewing. Note that all the chapter numbers you see are located on your DVD, so you don't need to worry about programming a chapter that doesn't exist.
  7. Highlight 2. Title and press X Btn to begin programming the next title. Repeat steps 5 and 6 until you've programmed all the chapters you want to view.
  8. Press Select Btn to play the sequence of chapters you've programmed.
  9. Cancel your program at any time by selecting Clear All from the top of the Program Setup Menu and press X Btn.

Repeat Play

This option allows you to view a DVD repeatedly.

The four repeat modes are:

  • Disc Repeat - repeats the entire contents of the DVD. For most movies this will result in playing the feature followed by all bonus materials.
  • Title Repeat - repeats all chapters within the current title. This is the ideal setting to make a movie play repeatedly without viewing the bonus materials.
  • Chapter Repeat - repeats the current chapter of the DVD.
  • Repeat Off - select this option to deactivate all modes of the Repeat feature.

To activate Repeat mode:

  1. Insert a DVD into your system, close the disc tray and wait for the DVD to load.
  2. Press Select Btn to display the Control Panel.
  3. Use the directional buttons to select the Repeat Play icon from the bottom row on your on-screen Control Panel and press X Btn once to enter Disc Repeat mode.
  4. Press X Btn multiple times to cycle through Title Repeat, Chapter Repeat, and Repeat Off modes.

Original/Play List

This option allows you to use DVD-RW discs (VR mode) to play back both original content recorded using a DVD recorder and Play List content created by editing original content. When using this kind of disc you can select the type of title you want to play. This option is not available during Resume Play.

NOTE: The "P. List" icon will only work when you're viewing video on a DVD-RW that's been recorded in VR mode. The "P. List" icon has no purpose for standard DVDs. The icon will appear gray and faded when you try to select it during playback of standard DVD discs.

To access the Original content or the Play List content of a DVD-RW that's been recorded in VR mode:

  1. Insert a DVD-RW that's been recorded in VR mode into your system, close the disc tray and wait for the DVD-RW video to load.
  2. Press Select Btn to display the Control Panel.
  3. Use the directional buttons to select the "P. List" icon and press X Btn to toggle between Original and Play List modes.

Clear

This option can be used to cancel the on-screen numbers* you may have selected from the top row of the on-screen DVD Menu. This option is also used to cancel A-B Repeat or Program Play and resume normal DVD playback.

NOTE: The Number buttons are used to skip to a specific chapter on your DVD. For example: You could skip to chapter 4 of your DVD by pressing the 0 button followed by the 4 button.

To clear playback modes:

  2. Use the directional buttons to select the Clear icon and press X Btn.

  4. Use the directional buttons to select the Slow icon that points to the left on your DVD menu and press X Btn to begin viewing the video backwards and in slow motion.
  5. To resume normal playback, select the Play icon and press X Btn.
