Using the CD Player with the HDD

New CD player features will be available when you install the internal hard disk drive (40GB) (for PlayStation®2) (HDD) and HDD software on your PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system. These features are accessed in your PlayStation®2 browser through the CD Play Options menu.

  1. Turn on your PlayStation®2, place an audio CD in the disc tray, and close the tray.
  2. Select Browser from the main menu and press X Btn.
  3. Highlight the audio CD in the browser screen and press X Btn to view the Play Options menu.

  1. Follow the previous steps for accessing the CD Play Options menu.
  2. Press the up or down arrow buttons to select Repeat from the Play Options menu and press X Btn.
  3. Press the right or left arrow buttons to highlight All or 1 and press X Btn to confirm your selection.
    • All: plays all tracks repeatedly
    • 1: plays one track repeatedly
    • Off: does not repeat any tracks

  1. Follow the previous steps for accessing the CD Play Options menu.
  2. Press the up or down arrow buttons to select Play Mode from the Play Options menu and press X Btn.
  3. Press the right or left arrow buttons to highlight a Play Mode and press X Btn to confirm your selection.
    • Shuffle: plays tracks in a random order
    • Program: plays tracks in an order you specify
    • Normal: plays tracks as they were recorded on the CD

  1. If you choose the Program mode:
    1. The editing screen will appear with a small dot beneath each track number.
    2. Highlight the track number you want to hear first and press X Btn. The dot below the track number will become a cube and will move to the beginning of the play order.
    3. Next, select the second track you want to hear and press X Btn.
    4. Repeat this process until you've selected all the tracks you want to hear.

  1. To remove a track you've already moved to the play list, highlight it again and press X Btn. Remember that the tracks you have not selected for play will have a small dot beneath the track number. Tracks selected for your program will have cubes beneath the track number.
  2. Press X Btn to exit the editing screen and return to the browser screen.
  3. Keep your audio CD highlighted and press X Btn to begin playing your CD in the track order you programmed.
