HDD Installation Troubleshooting

If the HDD icon or the Keyboard and Mouse settings do not appear: Back to top

  • The browser might not be compatible with the HDD.
  • The HDD unit might not be installed properly in your PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system. Please see Install the HDD. Try reinstalling the HDD.
  • Some files on the HDD related to the browser might be damaged. Please see Using Folders. Try reinstalling the HDD software. For further assistance, please contact Consumer Services.

If you just installed the HDD and there is less than 40 GB of available space: Back to top

  • The HDD comes with software and utilities pre-installed for your convenience. The available space on your HDD will continue to decrease whenever data is saved. If necessary, you can make room on your HDD by deleting unwanted files.

If you just installed the HDD, but are unable to start the Final Fantasy® XI game: Back to top

  • Final Fantasy XI and Tetra Master must be loaded from within the PlayOnline software. Insert the PlayOnline/Tetra Master disc in the system and select the disc from the Browser. Follow the on-screen instructions to configure your PlayOnline settings. For further assistance, you can also contact the PlayOnline Information Center at (858) 790-PLAY (7529). Please note that this call is not toll-free.

If you got an error message after installing your HDD in a friend's PlayStation®2: Back to top

  • The HDD cannot be moved from one PlayStation®2 to another, as you would do with a memory card, without reformatting the HDD and erasing all the data off of the HDD. To avoid this process, you should bring your entire system with you (including your network adaptor).
