For example, the screen does not change from the start-up screen, or
the Main Menu does not appear after more than 30 seconds after the
screen goes black.
- Some files that are related to the internal hard disk drive (40GB)
(for PlayStation®2) (HDD) start-up may be damaged.
- Run the Diagnose and Repair HDD utility:
- Insert your HDD Utility Disc. The opening screen and the
Basic Operations screen will appear.
- On the Basic Operations screen, press
.
The Utilities menu will appear.
- Select Diagnose and Repair and press
.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to run the utility. The
current status will appear on the screen as the utility runs.
NOTE: The Diagnose and Repair utility might take a
long time to complete. To prevent software or
data loss or corruption, do not open the disc
tray, turn off the system, press the reset
button, or remove the HDD unit from the system
while the utility is running.
- If the Diagnose and Repair utility fails to solve the problem, you
might need to reinstall the HDD software using HDD Utility Disc
(version 1.10). Please see
