Using Auto Diagnosis

To start the auto diagnosis feature: Back to top


  1. Press the standby/RESET button on the front of your PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system to turn on the system. Make sure the indicator light turns green.
  2. The Main Menu screen will appear.

    NOTE: It might take some time for the main menu screen to appear.


  3. Using the directional buttons, highlight Browser and press X Btn.
  4. Highlight System and press X Btn.
  5. Highlight Diagnosis and press X Btn.
  6. Highlight On and press X Btn.
  7. Insert a disc.
    • Auto diagnosis will start automatically.
    • The system will make adjustments that might allow previously unplayable discs to be played.

  1. Press Circle Btn twice to return to the browser screen.
  2. Using the directional buttons, highlight Browser and press X Btn.
  3. Press X Btn to play the disc.


NOTE: The diagnosis setting automatically returns to its default state of Off when you press the standby/RESET button or start playing a PlayStation®2 disc.
