Using DVD Playback Modes

The playback modes on your PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system are:

To start Program Play: Back to top


  1. While the DVD is playing, press Select Btn to display the Control Panel.
  2. Use the directional buttons to select the Program Play icon and press X Btn.
  3. Use the directional buttons to select the program, title, or chapter number and press X Btn.
  4. Select as many other program, title, or chapter numbers as you'd like to play (or select "All"), by pressing X Btn after each selection.
  5. Press the Start Btn button to play your program.

    NOTE: When your program finishes, the settings will remain as you've programmed them until you clear the playback mode.


To start Shuffle Play: Back to top


  1. While the DVD is playing, press Select Btn to display the Control Panel.
  2. Use the directional buttons to select the Shuffle Play icon and press X Btn to display the shuffle play options.
  3. Keep pressing X Btn to scroll through the shuffle play options:
    • Title Shuffle: plays titles in random order.
    • Chapter Shuffle: plays chapters in random order.
    • Shuffle Off: clears shuffle play.
  4. Use the directional buttons to select the Play (right arrow) button and press X Btn to begin shuffle play.

To start Repeat Play: Back to top


  1. While the DVD is playing, press Select Btn to display the Control Panel.
  2. Use the directional buttons to select the Repeat Play icon and press X Btn to display the repeat play options.
  3. Keep pressing X Btn to scroll through the repeat play options:
    • Disc Repeat: repeats playback of all titles.
    • Title Repeat: repeats playback of one title.
    • Chapter Repeat: repeats playback of one chapter.
    • Repeat Off: clears Repeat Play.
  4. Use the directional buttons to select the Play (right arrow) button and press X Btn to begin repeat play.

To start A-B Repeat (specific scene repeat) play: Back to top


  1. While the DVD is playing, press Select Btn to display the Control Panel.
  2. Use the directional buttons to select the A-B Play icon.
  3. Set point A: Press X Btn at the point where you want to start repeated playback.
  4. Set point B: Press X Btn at the point where you want to end repeated playback.
  5. Repeated playback of the section from point A to point B will begin.

To clear playback modes: Back to top


  1. While the DVD is playing, press Select Btn to display the Control Panel.
  2. Use the directional buttons to select the Clear icon and press X Btn.
  3. The "Playback mode contents cleared" message will appear and the DVD will return to normal playback.

To access the Original content or the Play List content of a DVD-RW: Back to top


  1. While a DVD-RW recorded in VR mode is playing, press Select Btn to display the Control Panel.
  2. Use the directional buttons to select the P. List icon and press X Btn to toggle between Original and Play List modes.
