Connection Troubleshooting
Dial-up Connection
Make sure you have an analog modem line (it should look like a
regular phone plug) plugged into the LINE connector on the network
adaptor.
Make sure you have entered the correct user ID and password
for your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
Make sure you have entered the correct primary and secondary
dial-up access numbers for your ISP (some numbers may be outdated).
Verify if any special dialing options are required in your
area. (To disable call waiting in most areas, enter *70 before your
number.) If you continue to have problems, contact your ISP.
High-Speed Connection
Make sure you have an Ethernet cable plugged into the NETWORK
connector on the network adaptor.
Make sure you have entered the correct user ID and password
for your ISP.
Make sure your IP Address, Netmask, Router Address, and DNS
Address information is correct (if you have a Static IP).
Make sure your Host Name is correct, if required by your ISP.
Shut down the modem for 1-2 minutes and then restart the
modem. Connect the Ethernet cable to the network adaptor, and attempt
to create a network configuration again. Please see Create a network configuration.
