Setting up Ad Hoc Mode

Ad Hoc Mode allows multiple PSP® (PlayStation® Portable) systems to communicate with each other within a limited range. For example, if you want to play a game against someone else with a PSP® in the same room, use the wireless network (WLAN) Ad Hoc Mode.

In order to play games in Ad Hoc Mode, each player must have their own copy of the game UMD™ in their PSP®.

To set up Ad Hoc Mode on your PSP®:

  1. Highlight Settings Icon(Settings) from the home menu.
  2. Select Network Settings Icon(Network Settings) and press X Button.
  3. Select Ad Hoc Mode and press X Button.
  4. Select the channel to use for communication with other PSP® system(s). All participating PSP® systems must be set to the same channel.
    • Automatic Automatically switches to the optimum channel for communication
    • Ch 1, Ch 6, or Ch 11 Communicates using the specified channel

Note: The default setting for the Ad Hoc Mode is Automatic.

  5. Press X Button to save settings.

You can also use Ad Hoc Mode to send and receive images from one PSP® to another. For more information, see Sending and Receiving Photos/Images.

If you are having problems using the Ad Hoc Mode, see Troubleshooting Ad Hoc Mode for more information.
