  • Visually check to make sure the AC power cord is not damaged.
  • Make sure you have selected the correct video input and channel on your TV or VCR.
  • Make sure the disc is inserted correctly, with the label side up.

If the screen is bouncing Back to top

Some TVs and monitors have difficulty displaying games, creating a bouncing effect. If this occurs, please contact Consumer Services.

If picture noise appears Back to top

  • Make sure the PlayStation and TV (and VCR if using one) are turned on and that they are securely connected using the AV cable (integrated audio/video) or RFU adaptor.
  • Visually check to make sure the AC power cord is not damaged.
  • Make sure you have selected the correct video input and channel on your TV or VCR.
  • The disc might need cleaning. To clean the disc:
    • Use the small, circular pads made specifically for cleaning discs sold at most music or computer software stores.
    • If you do not have a cleaning pad, you can use a dry, lint-free cloth.
NOTE: Other materials, such as paper towels or a T-shirt, might scratch the disc. If there are any scratches, smudges, or fingerprints on the disc, it might not function properly.
  • The console might be unstable. Place the console on a flat, stable surface and do not allow it to shake or vibrate.

If you continue to experience picture problems Back to top

Try using a different AV cable, RFU adaptor, or S VIDEO cable.
