Peripheral Troubleshooting

If you are having problems with PlayStation® peripherals, such as controllers: Back to top


  • Make sure the peripheral is an officially licensed PlayStation® product by looking for the official PlayStation® logo. SCEA cannot guarantee the quality of unlicensed peripherals.
  • Make sure the peripheral is securely connected to the PlayStation® game console.
  • Static electricity and other factors may affect the operation of peripherals. Turn off the main power switch and then turn it back on.
  • If possible, test the peripheral on another PlayStation® console.
    • If the controller does not function properly, the controller might need to be replaced.
    • If the controller does function properly, the PlayStation® console might need repairs. Please see How to Obtain Service.

If the vibration function of the analog controller (DUALSHOCK®) does not work: Back to top


  • Check the software package to see if it contains a vibration function icon. If the package does not have the icon, the vibration function will not work with this software.
  • If the package does have the vibration function icon, make sure the vibration function has been enabled in the on-screen options. If the vibration function has not been enabled, turn it on.
