Make sure the PlayStation® game console and TV (and VCR if
using one) are turned on and that they are securely connected using the
AV cable (integrated audio/video) or RFU adaptor. See PlayStation® installation
for help with set up.
Visually check to make sure the AC power cord is not damaged.
Adjust the TV volume to make sure it's not turned down low or
on mute.
Make sure you have selected the correct video input and
channel on your TV and VCR.
If you are using speakers, check the speaker connections and
settings. For example, you might not have selected the appropriate
input on the receiver (amplifier). Set the input so that you can listen
to sound.
NOTE: If necessary, refer
to the operating manual of your receiver (amplifier).
Use the small, circular pads made specifically for cleaning
discs, sold at most music or computer software stores.
If you do not have a cleaning pad, you can use a dry,
lint-free cloth.
NOTE: Other materials,
such as a paper towel or a T-shirt, may scratch the disc. If there are
any scratches, smudges, or fingerprints on the disc, it may not
function properly.
The console may be unstable. Place the console on a flat,
stable surface and do not allow it to shake or vibrate.
You might be playing a CD with DTS audio tracks. CDs with DTS
audio tracks can be used with your PlayStation® only when the
console is connected to audio equipment with a DTS decoder.
