Gran Turismo

The Save and Load feature in Gran Turismo allows you to save/load your general progress throughout the game. This feature requires 5 blocks of memory, with the exception of Car Settings. If your memory card does not meet the requirement of 5 open spaces, you will not be able to save a game. Saving a game in Gran Turismo will take up a third of your memory card. The Saving and loading feature is included in both Arcade and Simulation Mode. All in all, this game takes up 5 blocks of memory space, whether you are only saving arcade data, simulation data, and replay data, with the exception of Car settings. Car Setting data requires an additional, but separate, two blocks of memory. (You can save up to 120 different car settings)

Before you begin a qualify run for a race or a race, you are able to change the settings in your car. It is also possible to save these settings and load them. The settings menu has the options Save Settings… and Load Settings… If you select settings, you are able to change the settings on your car parts. Once you have sett your parts at where you like choose Save Settings.. to save the car settings. Once you have chose this option you will be given a choice to either save the data in slot 1 or 2. When you have chosen your slot, you are then able to name the current setting. You are able to save up to 120 car settings. Saving car settings allows you to customise your car according to the type of course and track you are up against.

Before you begin a qualify run for a race or a race, you can then load previous saved settings for your car. You can only load settings for a specific car. In other words, you can not load settings for a Honda Civic if they are for a Toyota Corolla.

Save Replay and Save Ghost

In replay mode, you can see and view replays you have saved from either Arcade or Simulation Mode. Once you have completed a race you can save its replay.

Load Ghost allows you to race against your own previous lap time in Trial mode. A ghost car is a rival car that is transferred from previous Time Trial replay data to the current Time Trial race. Only Replay data from a previous race run in time trial mode and on the same course as the one currently selected can be used to generate ghost cars. If a ghost has been saved on a certain track, before you race you will be given the option to load it.

Arcade Mode Save & Load

In Arcade Mode, you are able to save and load your game in the menu. Time trial best times, bonus items and records can be saved and loaded here n the menu the last two options are Save Game and Load Game.

If you choose save game you will be given a choice to choose a slot. The Sony PlayStation® has 2 memory card slots, so choose the slot with a memory card you want to save on. Once you choose the slot that you wish you memory card to be saved on press the X button on your controller to confirm saving. Once you have saved your game, you will be told that the save is complete and have the option to either exit or change slot. The option change slot allows you to save your data on another memory card in the other port. If you do not have a memory card in the memory card slot you will be told so and asked to insert one. If you do not have enough memory card space you will also be told of that.

Loading a game allows you to load and play off data previously saved. If you choose ‘load game’ you will be given a choice to choose a slot. The Sony PlayStation has 2 memory card slots, so choose the slot with a memory card you want to load on. Once you choose the slot that you wish your memory card to be loaded on press the X button on your controller to confirm loading. Once doing this you will be given the choice ‘yes’ and ‘change slot’. If you choose ‘Yes’, the game you chose to load will be loaded and be confirmed as ‘Loaded Complete’. If you choose "Change Slot’, you will start at the beginning of the loading progress. Once loading is completed you will have the option to ‘exit’ or ‘change slot’.

Simulation Mode Save & Load

In Simulation Mode there are many places where you can save your game. You can save your game at ‘Home’, at any dealership, before and after a race, and at the Driving tests. The save and load feature is characterized by a memory card icon. The most common place you will find this icon is on the left-hand side of the screen when not racing.

To save or load your data in Simulation mode, put the cursor (arrow) on the save/load icon and push the X button on your controller. You will now come to a save and load menu with the options to save game data or load game data. If you choose to either save or load, you will then be given the option to choose which memory card you want to save/load your data on. Once you choose a memory card by pushing the X button on your controller you will be asked if you want to save or load on the memory card you chose. When you have saved or loaded game data you will be brought back to the initial save/load prompt. To exit, bring the cursor to the exit icon or simply push the triangle button.

If at any point you are told that there is not enough space on your memory card, you will not be able to save your data unless you make more space available on your memory card. If there is no memory cards in any of the PlayStation slots, you will be asked to insert one if you attempt to save or load your game data.
