Capcom today announced that Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower is coming to the US for the PSP. Already out in Japan, the 2D monster-fighting brawler is a compilation of the five titles in the Darkstalkers franchise (known as the Vampire franchise in Japan) that were featured on the Saturn, Dreamcast, and PlayStation. The Chaos Tower will feature exclusive content for Sony's handheld.

Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower is being billed as a launch title for the PSP. However, Capcom's "mid-March" release date was only slightly firmer than the vague "March" US launch window Sony has announced for the handheld.

Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower lets gamers choose from 18 characters, which include a vampire, a werewolf, and a Sasquatch, specifically for fighting in five different modes. The classic arcade, network, and training modes have returned, and two new modes, tower and chronicle, have been added to the PSP edition. The network mode in Darkstalkers Chronicles: The Chaos Tower will take full advantage of the PSP's built-in Wi-Fi capability, which lets players engage in beat-'em-up action in versus mode or limits battle modes to just two wirelessly connected PSPs.
