While first details on Phantasy Star Universe leaked out late last week, we were still left wondering about the exact nature of the title. Is Sega making a game closer to the original story-driven RPGs? Or can we count on a full Online experience similar to Phantasy Star Online?

Many fans will be pleased to learn that Sega is now hinting at the former. Sega's new Phantasy Star Universe website (which provided us with the new screens included in our media library) promises a true RPG with a fully realized story and characters. Set in a sci-fi world typical of the Phantasy Star series, Universe promises a huge number of event scenes and movie sequences.

The game is also listed at Sega's website as being network compatible, which is in line with our previous reports of players being able to adventure with their friends. Sega's Online plans for the game are still unclear at this point.

In related news, as suggested above, the official Phantasy Star Universe mini website has opened. It's in Japanese, but we're sure Phantasy Star nuts won't mind. Check out the webpage here.
