Arc the Lad: End of Darkness lights up stores

Namco Hometek today announced that Arc the Lad: End of Darkness is now available on the PlayStation 2. End of Darkness is the latest in the series that began on the PlayStation back in 1995. The newest chapter was developed by Cattle Call, which worked on the last Arc the Lad game, Arc the Lad: Twilight of Spirits.

The story of End of Darkness centers on Edda, a young warrior. As he settles into his role as master hunter, Edda realizes that he must take on the responsibility to stop an evil danger from destroying civilization, thanks to his inherited ability to stop "malademons."

For the first time in the series, the turn-based battle system familiar to gamers has been replaced by a real-time combat mechanic for more-fast-paced action. Also introduced to the franchise is online play. Using the PS2 network adapter, up to four gamers can now adventure together in normal and online-specific missions. For the more competitive, the game also offers a versus mode that supports up to eight players in teams or solo.
