PlayStation®2 30000 - 50000 Series / Network Adaptor
Connecting to a Network Cable
You can connect the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system to a network
via the NETWORK connector on a network adaptor installed in the PlayStation®2
system.
To connect the network adaptor (Ethernet/modem) (for PlayStation®2) with
a network cable:
- Install the network adaptor in the PlayStation®2. For instructions, see
Installing the Network Adaptor.
- Remove the sticker covering the network connector on the network
adaptor and plug a network (Ethernet) cable in the connector labeled
"NETWORK".

- Plug the AC power cord for the PlayStation®2 into a working
electrical outlet.
- Turn on the system and load the Network Adaptor Start-up Disc came
with the network adaptor.

NOTE: Never connect network cables or telephone cords of the following
types to the network connector; too much electrical current may pass
through the connector, causing a malfunction, excessive heat,
or fire in the connector:
- Network cables of types other than 100Base-TX and 10Base-T
- Normal telephone lines
- The digital jack of an ISDN (digital) compatible public phone
- PBX (LAN transmitter) phone lines
- Telephone lines for home networks or business phones
- Other types of telephone lines
