Adaptor
Connecting to a Telephone Line
You can connect to a dial-up Internet Service Provider (ISP)
through a telephone line by inserting a telephone cord into the LINE
connector on a network adaptor (Ethernet/modem) (for PlayStation®2)
installed in the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system.
To connect the network adaptor to a telephone line:
- Install the network adaptor in the PlayStation®2. For
instructions, see Installing the Network
Adaptor.
- Plug a modem line (telephone cord) into the left connector
labeled "LINE" on the network adaptor.

- Plug the AC power cord for the PlayStation®2 into a
working electrical outlet.
- Turn on the system and load the Network Adaptor Start-up Disc
that came with the network adaptor.
- Register the network adaptor. See Register the network adaptor.
- Create a network configuration. See Create a network configuration.
NOTE: Never connect phone cords of the following types (especially a
home network or business phone cord) to the line connector:
- The digital jack of an ISDN (digital) compatible public phone
- PBX (LAN transmitter) phone lines
- Cellular phone or car phone
- Telephone lines for home networks or business phones
