Saving Game Data

These are general instructions for saving game data on PSP® (PlayStation® Portable) system. Saving game data can vary from game to game, so be sure to check your game for specific instructions.

  1. Start playing a game. For details, see Playing a Game Basics.
  2. Periodically throughout your gameplay, and again when you quit the game, the PSP® automatically saves the game data and a game profile.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to save game data.
  4. When you play the game the next time, insert the same Memory Stick Duo™ and the game will access the saved game data.

Note: Do not remove the Memory Stick Duo™ or turn off the PSP® when game data is being saved. When data is being saved, the Memory Stick Duo™ indicator light on the front of the PSP® flashes.

  1. Insert the Memory Stick Duo™ with the game data you want to copy.
  2. Select Game Icon(Game) from the home menu.
  3. Select Saved Data Utility Icon(Saved Data Utility) and press X Button.
  4. Select the data you want to copy and press Triangle Button.
  5. Select Copy from the options menu and press X Button.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions for removing the Memory Stick Duo™ you are copying from and inserting the Memory Stick Duo™ you are copying to.

Note: If there is not enough space available on the Memory Stick Duo™ you want to copy the game data to, either delete unwanted data or use another Memory Stick Duo™.

  1. Insert the Memory Stick Duo™ with the game data you want to delete.
  2. Select Game Icon(Game) from the home menu.
  3. Select Saved Data Utility Icon(Saved Data Utility) and press X Button.
  4. Select the data you want to delete and press Triangle Button.
  5. Select Delete from the options menu and press X Button.


Notes:

  • Available Space
    The amount of data you can save to your Memory Stick Duo™ will depend on the storage capacity of the Memory Stick Duo™ (they come in various sizes) and the amount of information already saved. There must be enough available space for the files you wish to save on your Memory Stick Duo™. For information about how to check for available space, see System Check.
    If you need more room on a Memory Stick Duo™, you might be able to delete data. For details, see Deleting Data from a Memory Stick Duo™.
  • Formatting
    If this is the first time you�ve used the Memory Stick Duo™, you must format it for use with your PSP®. For instructions, see Formatting a Memory Stick Duo™.
  • Folder Structure
    Files must be saved in specific folders using appropriate names to be viewed on the PSP®. If you have problems accessing content, see About Memory Stick Duo™ Folder Structure.
