Putting the PSP® (PlayStation® Portable) system into sleep mode
allows you to effectively pause any current activity and place the system
into a low power sleep state. While in sleep mode, the PSP® turns off
the screen, disables any wireless activity, and does not respond to button
presses. When sleep mode is cleared, these functions are quickly restored
and you can use the PSP® again with minimal interruption.
To enter sleep mode:
- With the PSP® turned on and a game playing, slide the power/hold
switch up. The power/hold switch is located on the right side of the
PSP®.
- Hold the power/hold switch for less than 2 seconds.
- The power indicator will flash and then turn off, and the system will
enter sleep mode.
Notes:
- Do not put the system into sleep mode while the Memory Stick
Duo™ access indicator is on, because it
may cause data loss or corruption.
- Not all software will feature the sleep mode function. Contact the
publisher of the software for more information.
To clear sleep mode:
- Slide the power/hold switch up.
Notes:
- If the battery pack runs out while in sleep mode, when the sleep
mode is cleared, the PSP® will not return to the screen that
was displayed before entering sleep mode. You should always save
game data before putting the PSP® into sleep mode.
- If the PSP® was put into sleep mode during gameplay, when
the sleep mode is cleared, you will resume gameplay from the
point you left off.
- If the PSP® was put into sleep mode during video or audio
playback, when sleep mode is cleared, the screen will return to
the home menu.
When the PSP® is in hold mode, the buttons are locked and do not
function. This mode is used to avoid unintended operation of the system.
For example, hold mode allows you to disable the buttons while music or
movies are playing so as to not cause unintended operation.
To enter hold mode:
Slide the power/hold switch down. The switch locks into place and the hold
indicator turns yellow, indicating that the PSP is in hold mode.
To clear hold mode:
Slide the power/hold switch up.
