Saving Photos / Images to a Memory Stick Duo™

You can use your PSP® (PlayStation® Portable) system to view photos/images saved to a Memory Stick Duo™. You can use one of two methods to save to your Memory Stick Duo™.


To save photos/images to a Memory Stick Duo™ using a computer:


First import or download photo/image files to your computer:

  1. Make sure your computer contains software that supports the file format you are using and that the files formats are supported by your PSP®. For details, see Compatible Photo/Image Formats.
  2. Save photo/image files to your computer from other sources, such as digital cameras and website downloads.

Then save the files to a Memory Stick Duo™ using a computer:

  1. Make sure there is enough available space for the files on your Memory Stick Duo™. For more information, see System Check.
  2. If this is the first time you've used the Memory Stick Duo™, you must format it or use your computer to create the proper PSP ™ folder structure. For more information, see Formatting a Memory Stick Duo™ and About Memory Stick Duo™ Folder Structure.
  3. Connect your Memory Stick Duo™ to a computer using one of the following methods:
    • Insert into the Memory Stick™ slot on the computer or use a Memory Stick Duo™ Adaptor.
    • Connect a Memory Stick reader/writer with a USB cable.
    • Connect your PSP®, with the Memory Stick Duo™ inserted, with a USB cable.
  4. If you connected the Memory Stick Duo™ with a USB connection, you must activate the connection on the PSP®:
    • Select USB Icon (USB) under Settings Icon (Settings) in the home menu.
    • Press X button.
  5. Your computer will indicate that it detects the Memory Stick Duo™/PSP®.
    Note: The computer might recognize the Memory Stick Duo™ /PSP® as a "Removable Disk Drive" or "Removable Storage" or as "Memory Stick Media".
  6. Browse to the Memory Stick Duo™/PSP® on your computer.
  7. Copy the photo/image files from your computer into the PICTURE folder on your Memory Stick Duo™.
    Note: Photo/image files saved in the PHOTO folder inside the PSP folder will also be recognized.

  8. You can create subfolders inside the PICTURE folder1.
    Note: Folders within subfolders are not recognized by the PSP® and can not be viewed on the PSP®2.


Notes:
  • Photo Display
    The PSP® might not be able to display some photos/images, depending on the size of the image data. Additionally, some photos/images that have been edited on a computer might not be able to be viewed.

  • Compatible Formats
    Photo/image files must be in the correct format in order to be viewed on the PSP®. See Compatible Photo/Image Formats.

  • Memory Stick Duo™
    • Available Space
      The amount of data you can save to your Memory Stick Duo™ will depend on the storage capacity of the Memory Stick Duo™ (they come in various sizes) and the amount of information already saved. There must be enough available space for the files you wish to save on your Memory Stick Duo™. For information about how to check for available space, see System Check.

      If you need more room on a Memory Stick Duo™, you might be able to delete data. For details, see Deleting Data from a Memory Stick Duo™.

    • Formatting
      If this is the first time you've used the Memory Stick Duo™, you must format it for use with your PSP®. For instructions, see Formatting a Memory Stick Duo™.
    • Folder Structure
      Files must be saved in specific folders using appropriate names to be viewed on the PSP®. If you have problems accessing content, see About Memory Stick Duo™ Folder Structure.
