Network

Information Board

PlayStation store (Information Board) has been added under playstation network (PlayStation®Network). The information board displays news about games and the latest information about PlayStation®Store.

Hints
  • To view the information board, you must set your PSP® system to connect to the Internet.
  • When you select PlayStation store (Information Board) for the first time, you will be asked to set your country or region. You can change the country/region setting at any time by selecting PlayStation store (Information Board), pressing the PlayStation store button, and then selecting [Settings] from the options menu.

Displaying news and information details

When you select PlayStation store (Information Board) under playstation network (PlayStation®Network), the latest news and information related to PlayStation®Store is obtained from the Internet and displayed as a list.

Select an item from the list, and then press the PlayStation store button. Depending on the content, either the PlayStation®Store screen will be displayed or the Internet browser will start, allowing you to view details about the selected item.

 

Overall

Folder levels that can be viewed

The number of folder levels that you can view under Sleep timer (Photo), Sleep timer (Music) and Sleep timer (Video) has been increased.


Music files example

When music files are saved on Memory Stick Duo™ media with the directory structure shown in the diagram below, the files contained in the second level subfolders under [MUSIC] can now be viewed from the XMB™ menu.

 

PlayStation®Network

Access to PlayStation®Store

You can now access PlayStation®Store even if you do not have a PlayStation®Network account.
Before signing up for a PlayStation®Network account, you can browse content such as games or demos that are available on PlayStation®Store.

Accessing PlayStation®Store without an account

Select Sleep timer (PlayStation®Store) under playstation network (PlayStation®Network). Follow the on-screen instructions to enter information for the required items: [Country/Region of Residence], [Language], and [Date of Birth].



Signing up for a PlayStation®Network account

If you select the control buttons at the top right corner of the PlayStation®Store screen, attempt to download content, or add content to your shopping cart, a message asking if you want to sign up for PlayStation®Network will be displayed. Follow the on-screen instructions to sign up for a PlayStation®Network account.

Downloading games

Less free space is now required when downloading games from PlayStation®Store to Memory Stick Duo™ media.
Previously, it was necessary to have free space on the Memory Stick Duo™ equal to twice the size of the game to be downloaded. With system software version 5.50, you can download a game from PlayStation®Store to Memory Stick Duo™ media if there is free space on the media equal to the size of the game to be downloaded.
